The Barber Coalition was born from a simple yet powerful idea back in 2023.
While attending barber school, one core lesson stood out: the art of giving in order to receive. We would offer free haircuts in the student center, and in return, we gained consistent clients to sharpen our skills throughout the semester. We also volunteered at community events, providing free haircuts in exchange for credit hours. These experiences reminded me of the importance of sowing seeds—that in order to reap a harvest, you must first give. That mindset has guided me ever since graduating from barber school in March 2023.
When I joined my father’s barbershop—a business with over 20 years of history in the heart of Fayetteville—I knew I had to contribute something meaningful to its legacy. I shared with him my vision: that by giving back and getting involved in the community, we could strengthen both our impact and our brand. He agreed, and together we organized our first event—a free haircut drive for juniors and seniors attending spring prom at Westover High School.
That event sparked something greater. It brought together a group of like-minded barbers who wanted to make a difference, and The Barber Coalition was born.
Since then, we’ve nurtured that vision, growing from an idea into a movement. By partnering with community organizations like the Two-Six Project, we’ve expanded our reach and deepened our commitment to service. Today, The Barber Coalition stands with a clear mission: to uplift our youth, serve our community, and plant seeds that will bear fruit for generations to come.
